People want to give, but it's hard to know where your money goes once it leaves your account. We started Donate the Future to make every donation easy to follow, from the moment you give to the moment a project is complete.
We are a New Zealand business that builds giving technology. We are not a charity ourselves: we provide the platform where registered charities share their work, and where people and businesses choose who to support, manage all their giving together and watch the difference it makes.

No fees & trust
Where your money goes
- Paid directly from you to the charity. Your donation is paid straight from you to the charity's own Stripe account and then into the charity's bank. No donation money ever passes through our bank accounts.
- Payments by Stripe. Card details never touch our servers. Stripe is used by millions of businesses worldwide and is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
- Tax receipts come from the charity. Donations of $5 or more to approved donee organisations may be eligible for a one-third tax credit from Inland Revenue. We email the receipt on the charity's behalf.
- How we keep the lights on. We do not charge charities or donors any platform fee. When you give, you can choose to add an optional extra donation to us to help maintain the platform. It is always clearly shown, set to zero unless you choose otherwise, and never taken from the charity's share. That optional extra is the only money that comes to us. We are not a charity, so a donation to us may not be tax deductible, and it is never included in a charity's tax receipt. Stripe's card fee (about 2.65% + 30c for NZ cards) is added on top of your donation and shown clearly before you pay, so the charity receives your full donation.
